November birthdays will be celebrated on Sunday 11/5—free to all born in November.

We have scheduled a game for Sunday, 11/12.  Because this is the final day of the Daytona Regional, we will have a sign-up sheet.  Please indicate if you plan to play.

We have Club Championships scheduled on the 3rd and 16th and team games: 0-299 on the 29th and Open on the 30th.

If you are a 0-199 player, plan to attend the big Silver Point Day on Sunday, 11/19.  Here’s the chance to win silver in pairs and team play with great food and prizes.  Reserve by signing up at the Director’s desk or by calling 386-734-7170.

Our mentor session in November is scheduled for the 17th at 9:30 a.m.  Easybridge continues on Wednesday evenings at 7:30.  This is an mini-lesson and a short game, open to anyone who wants an easy-going, relaxed pace and attitude.

Lynn Berg will teach an eight week class on basic conventions on Tuesday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30.  Sign up to reserve a place.

Our Senior Sectional was a roaring success—thanks especially to Lee Roberts and her large and enthusiastic group of volunteers.  A highlight of Sunday was the presentation to Pam Stiff of the Mentor of the year award.  She was nominated by Barbara Dunn.

It’s time to say a special thanks to the three hard-working Board Members whose terms are about to be complete:  Anne Burson, Barbara Dunn and Betty Lennon have all contributed so much.  Anne has been partnership chairman, Barbara has hauled what seem like tons of paper goods and supplies, and Betty has been an accurate and prompt secretary.  Thanks, ladiesJ

The Nominating Committee will be presenting its slate the week of November 15 and asking for nominations from the floor.  Remember, anyone nominated must have agreed to be willing to serve.  The slate is Lois Haskins, Sue Kongsvik, and Ann Magaha.  If an election is necessary, it will take place at the annual meeting in December.

We will be closed on Turkey Day, but otherwise open.  We are starting to see the return of snowbirds, and the club has been re-set to accommodate the larger numbers of players.  Our carpet was cleaned during the sectional, so we really look great.

Looking forward to December:  The Christmas Party will be a draw Swiss on December 10 at 2 p.m.  Lee and Lynn have big plans for refreshments.  Charge will be $10 for members and $15 for non-members, which includes card fees.  Gwen and her decorating crew have some surprises in store, too.  Silver week come 12/11-12/16.  On a more serious note, dues can be paid anytime in December.  Still only $20 for a year of great bridge.

Our Sunshine expert, Gloria McDermitt, has been receiving as well as sending cards this month, since she broke her shoulder at the bowling alley.  Nancy Bradley has had a bad knee repaired and is doing well. Bill Bradshaw and Lois Jamieson are both laid up, too.  If you know of anyone who needs a cheery note, let Gloria or Lynn know.
