January Newsletter—DeLand Bridge Club

January Birthdays: 2-Kay Utz; 4-Carol Mullins; 5-Roy Ray; 12-Alice Kilgannon; 13-Marion Watson; 16-Jackie Richards; 18-Karen Nuthmann; 21-Chris Bunnell; 23-Lee Elton; 25-Ralph Lymburner; 28-Marilyn O’Neal

Our birthday game in January is Sunday 1/7 at 2 p.m.  January “babies” play free.  We are trying a weekly Sunday game for a few months to see if there is sufficient interest to expand our schedule.  However, there will not be an Open Sunday game on 1/28:  We have a two session 0-199 Silver Day planned.  It’s $25 for both sessions and great food.

We need Hosts!  Please let Margaret Smith or Lynn Berg know when you are available to volunteer for this essential service we offer to our players.  It’s a big reason why we’re a “user friendly” club.

A preliminary 2007 phone list is available as of 1/1/07.  Please, check your listing and those of friends.  We will be making a final, larger format version at the end of January.

Our charity beneficiary for the quarter is the local Council on Aging.  Plan to attend the charity game on Saturday, January 20.  As usual, contributions are voluntary.  We plan, also as usual, to have great refreshments for this special game.

We are starting a new 0-99 game on Fridays from 9:30 till about noon.  Mini lessons will be drawn from the Easybridge books, so you can count on up-to-date information.  Come play in this relaxed game.  If you come without a partner, we’ll try to make sure you get to play anyway.
