March Birthdays: 4-Dolly Harper; 10-Henry Polowy; 11-Nancy Frame; 14-Bill Farnan; 21-George Flack; 22-Evalyn Anderson; 27-Jim Brown; 30-Marilyn Malamed

Our birthday game this month is March 4 at 2 p.m.  Anyone with a birthday in March plays free this day.  We also have Sunday games at 2 p.m. the rest of the month.  3/18 is a Club Championship.

We start our Spade/Heart team competition this month.  Keep track of your attendance and points earned in the club games:  1 point for attending and another point for every pair you beat(or ½ point for tying another pair).  Ask a game director if you are unsure how much you’ve earned in a game.  Get your teams together for a Knock-Out starting on Thursday, March 15.  The second round will be held on Wednesday, 3/21.  [note: there will also be the usual 0-299 game on 3/21]

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with us on Saturday March 17.  0-299 players, sign up to have a separate section on that day.  Lee and Lynn are preparing a traditional corned beef and cabbage lunch to be served at noon.  Cost is $5, and we ask you to reserve so we know how many to prepare for.

Our free mentoring session will be held on Thursday, 3/15, from 9:30 to 11:30.  Please sign up so we will have enough mentors available.

You’ve asked for a workshop on Cue Bids—and now you’ve got it.  Thursday, 3/22 from 9:30 to 11:30.  Cost is $10.00

Our thoughts and prayers are with Carol Ann Klenke and MaryEllen Schoolmaster.  MaryEllen’s family asks that you send cards but not call or try to visit.  She is being treated with radiation for tumors in the brain, and it is too early to know how she will fare. Edward Klenke reports that Carol Ann is doing a bit better with her chemo, though she is still weak.  If you know of others who are suffering ill health, please let our Sunshine person, Gloria McDermitt, know so she can send cards and encouragement.

It’s not too soon to talk about our May Open Sectional.  Chairman Maxine Doughton will be asking for your participation. We need caddies, hospitality, set-up and clean-up—and lots of the great food for which we are famous!
